TUSCULUM WOMEN'S GOLF DEFEATS LMU IN MATCH PLAY

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 25 Tusculum College women's golf team defeated Lincoln Memorial University 3 1/2 to 1/2 Saturday in a match play event Saturday at Holston Hills Country Club.

Tusculum's Shannon Palenkas rallied from being three down after eight holes to defeat Rachel Spurs 3 & 2. TC's Mandy Hartsock won her match 4 & 3 over Sarah Oswalt, while Mary Ann Vizcarrando defeated Millicent Chaney 6 & 5.

The final match of the day between Tusculum's Amanda Bowen and Katie Oliver was a thriller as the contest ended all square after 18 holes.

Both teams return to tournament action on Monday. Tusculum will compete at the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational in Monroe, N.C., while LMU will be at the West Georgia Invitational in Carrollton, Ga.
