TUSCULUM WOMEN’S GOLF TIED FOR SECOND AT HARGETT MEMORIAL

 

                MONROE, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women’s golf team fired an opening round 319 and is tied for second place after day one action of the 2007 J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate, held this week at the Stonebridge Golf Club.

 

                Belmont Abbey College leads the team tournament by nine shots following Monday’s 308.  Carley Warrington led the Crusaders shooting a three-under par 69, three shots in front of Jaynelle Harmon of Catawba College, who posted 72.

 

                Tusculum is in a three-way tie for second place, along with host Wingate University and Catawba.  Lincoln Memorial University is fifth with 330, followed by Mount Olive College (346), Lenoir-Rhyne College (358), Mars Hill College (385) and Presbyterian College (395).

 

                Tusculum’s Shannon Palenkas is tied for fifth place with 78, while teammate Amanda Bowen fired 79 and is tied for eighth.  Mary Ann Vizcarrondo and Susanne Sisco are tied for 14th with rounds of 81, while Mandy Hartsock is tied for 21st with 85.

 

                Play concludes with Tuesday’s final round.
