TUSCULUM WOMEN GOLF FINISHES SECOND AT HARGETT MEMORIAL

MONROE, N.C. --- The No. 25 Tusculum College women's golf team posted a two-day 634 to finish in second place at the 2007 J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate, held this week at Stonebridge Golf Club.

Tusculum senior Shannon Palenkas finished in sole possession of third place with 78-75=153, nine shots off the pace set by Catawba College's Jaynelle Harmon, who claimed medalist honors with an even par 144 (71-73).

Tournament host Wingate University established a pair of school records a two-day score of 626, including Tuesday's 307 to win the event by eight shots over the Pioneers. Catawba, ranked No. 22 in NCAA II, finished third with 635, followed by Belmont Abbey College (639), Lincoln Memorial University (662), Mount Olive College (674), Lenoir-Rhyne College (704), Mars Hill College (744) and Presbyterian College (789).

Senior Amanda Bowen tied for seventh place with 79-78=157, while freshman Mary Ann Vizcarrondo shot 81-79=160 to tie for 12^th. Mandy Hartsock fired 85-83=168 (T21^st) while Susanne Sisco rounded out the Tusculum scoring with 81-90=171 (T25^th).

Tusculum will be back in action next week when it hosts the 2007 Agnes McAmis Memorial at Link Hills Country Club. The two-day, 20-team event begins with Monday's opening round, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
