TUSCULUM WOMEN’S GOLF THIRD AT HARGETT INTERCOLLEGIATE

 

                CHARLOTTE --- The Tusculum College women’s golf team posted an opening round 356 and is in third place at the 2008 J. Ralph Hargett Intercollegiate at the Olde Sycamore Golf Club.

 

                Leading the charge for the Pioneers is senior Mandy Hartsock, who posted an 85 on Monday and is tied for eighth place and is seven shots out of the lead.  Mary Ann Vizcarrondo is tied for 15th with 88, while Amber Ladner carded 90 and is tied for 20th.  Emily Palenkas is tied for 27th with 93, while Adriana Vizcarrondo is tied for 48th with 98.

 

                Belmont Abbey is the team leader after 18 holes with 334, 14 shot better than tournament host Wingate (348).  Tusculum is third, while Newberry and Armstrong Atlantic State are tied for fourth with 363.  Anderson is sixth with 366, followed by Queens (367), Presbyterian (370), Catawba (372), Mount Olive (383), Mars Hill (394) and Lincoln Memorial (397).

 

                The final round will be played on Tuesday on the par 72, 5,810-yard layout.
