McAMIS MEMORIAL OPENING ROUND SUSPENDED DUE TO DARKNESS

"Belmont University Shoots 322 to Hold Early Lead"

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- With three teams and eight golfers still on the course, the completion of the first round of the 2006 Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Golf Invitational has been suspended due to darkness.  The opening round will be completed on Tuesday morning with the final round also concluding on the same day.  Wingate University, Catawba College and host Tusculum College are the three teams still on the course when play was suspended.

 

                Of the 15 teams in, Belmont University leads the way with an opening day 322, three strokes ahead of two-time defending McAmis Memorial champion Central Arkansas (325).  Pfeiffer is in third place with 328, followed by West Georgia (329), Newberry (336), USC Upstate (339), Berry College (340), Limestone (343), Ashland (349), Anderson (351), Lenoir-Rhyne (355), Montevallo (358), Belmont Abbey (363), Mars Hill (397) and King (469).

 

                Complete team and individual results will be available following the conclusion of Tuesday's final round.

 

                The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at Link Hills Country Club.
