GREENEVILLE, Tenn.
--- Central Arkansas posted a two-round 643 to edge Pfeiffer by one stroke
to win the 2006 Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Golf
Invitational, held this week at Link Hills Country Club. The Sugar Bears win the tournament for a third
consecutive year as UCA matches the three consecutive McAmis
Memorial titles won by host Tusculum from 1998-2000.
Catawba's Paige Haverty claimed medalist honors while
establishing three tournament records. Haverty
shot a 36-hole record 148 to win by eight shots over UCA's
Christina Lecuyer and Lorie Warren of Belmont, who each fired
156. Haverty's
final round 71 tied a tournament record for lowest 18-hole score, matching
the 71 posted by Stephanie Hicks
of Longwood in 2003. Haverty's
Tuesday tally was the lowest second round score in the nine-year history of
the tournament.
Wingate's Beth Kirkham and Britany Beltran of Pfeiffer each posted 157, joining Haverty,
Lecuyer and Warren on the McAmis
Memorial All-Tournament team.
