TUSCULUM THIRD AFTER DAY ONE OF SAC TOURNAMENT

HICKORY, N.C. – The Tusculum women’s golf team shot a day one 680 to assume third place at the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf Tournament, hosted at the Lake Hickory Country Club at Catawba Springs.

Catawba holds the lead after opening round action, firing a 656, 15 strokes ahead of second-place Newberry (671). Lenoir-Rhyne is fourth, five strokes behind Tusculum with a 685.

Shannon Palenkas led the Pioneers, carding a 165 to tie for sixth. Amanda Bowen and Mandy Hartsock are tied for 10^th with a 169. Amber Ladner’s 177 tied for 19^th, while Becca Friddle’s 186 tied for 24^th.

The SAC Tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
