TUSCULUM WOMEN POST SCHOOL RECORD 652,

FINISH SECOND AT ANDERSON INVITATIONAL

ANDERSON, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team established a new school 36-hole record, posting a two-day 652 to finish second at the 2006 Anderson University Invitational. The Pioneers lowered its score by 20 shots and fired a 316 on Tuesday, the second lowest score in TC history.

Shannon Palenkas (Maryville, Tenn.) tied for sixth place shooting 159, including Tuesday's 76. Amanda Bowen (Millington, Tenn.) finished one shot behind with 160 and carded the lowest score of the day with a career-best 75. Bowen's 75 is the sixth lowest score in school history.

Rookie Mary Ann Vizcarrondo (Anaco, Venezuela) shot 81-82=163 to finish 11^th in her collegiate debut. Mandy Hartsock (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Susanne Sisco (Fairfield, Ohio) each tied for 30^th with 175. Liz Ennen (Wheaton, Ill.), playing as an individual competitor, finished 46^th with 196.

USC Upstate won the team title with 307-313=620, led by tournament medalist Richia Wedzik, who shot 75-78=153. Tusculum was second, followed by Wingate University (663), Anderson (668), Mount Olive College (689), Queens University of Charlotte (691), Limestone College (702), Lincoln Memorial University (705) and Presbyterian College (820).

Tusculum's 652 breaks the previous school record by three shots. The Pioneers carded a 655 at the 2003 South Atlantic Conference Championship.

The Pioneers return to action Oct. 2-3 when the Pioneers host the Tusculum College Fall Classic at Link Hills Country Club.
