TC TIED FOR 15TH AFTER ONE ROUND

AT UNLIMITED POTENTIAL CLASSIC

 

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women’s golf team shot an opening-round 337 to tie for 15th place after one day of competition at the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic.

 

The field for the 16-team tournament, hosted by the College of Charleston, is comprised primarily of NCAA Division I programs.  Middle Tennessee State holds the early lead after turning in a first-round 298.

 

Junior Shannon Palenkas (Maryville, Tenn.) carded a 77 to lead the Pioneers in early action and tie for 21st.  Junior Amanda Bowen (Millington, Tenn.) shot an 82 to tie for 60th.  A pair of Pioneers, junior Becca Friddle (Honea Path, S.C.) and sophomore Mandy Hartsock (Kingsport, Tenn.) sit amidst a five-way tie for 77th after shooting an 89.  Freshman Amber Ladner (Maryville, Tenn.) turned in a first-round 103 to tie for 87th.

 

Tusculum will hit the links for the second round of the Classic on Saturday, with play concluding at the Bay Tree Golf Club on Sunday.
