TC SLIPS TO 16TH AT UNLIMITED POTENTIAL CLASSIC

 

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women’s golf team shot a second-round 351 to fall to 16th place with one round remaining at the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic.

 

The field for the 16-team tournament, hosted by the College of Charleston, is comprised primarily of NCAA Division I programs.  Middle Tennessee State held onto its lead after posting a score of 304 (298-304=602) in second-day action.

 

Junior Shannon Palenkas (Maryville, Tenn.) carded an 83 to continue to pace the Pioneer golfers.  She currently sits in a tie for 46th place.  Junior Amanda Bowen (Millington, Tenn.) shot an 82, the best round of the day for TC, and is tied for 62nd overall.  Sophomore Mandy Hartsock (Kingsport, Tenn.) sits in 82nd place after posting a second-round 91, and junior Becca Friddle (Honea Path, S.C.) is tied for 84th after shooting a 95.  Freshman Amber Ladner (Maryville, Tenn.) maintained the 87th slot and shaved seven points off her first-round performance, recording a 96 on Saturday.

 

Tusculum will conclude play at the Classic on Sunday.
