TUSCULUM FINISHES 16TH AT BAY TREE CLASSIC

 

                NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team finished 16th at the 2005 Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic, held this weekend at Bay Tree Golf Club.  The Pioneers finished with a three-day score of 1026 against the predominant NCAA Division I field.

 

                Tusculum fired a 338 in Sunday's final round on the par 72, 6,007-yard layout.

 

                Shannon Palenkas was Tusculum's top player of the tournament posting a 242 to tie for 57th place.  Amanda Bowen tied for 63rd with 245, while Mandy Hartsock shot 266 to tie for 80th.  Becca Friddle and Amber Ladner carded three-round totals of 273 and 296, respectively to round out the scoring for the Pioneers.

 

                Middle Tennessee State won the team title with 901, while the College of Charleston's Angie Hill claimed medalist honors with 218.

 

                Tusculum will be in action once again on Oct. 11-12 when they return to the Myrtle Beach area to compete in the Lenoir-Rhyne Intercollegiate.
