TUSCULUM WOMEN'S GOLF 14^TH AT LR/MYRTLE BEACH INTERCOLLEGIATE

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Rachel Quinlan-Waters fired an opening round 80 and is tied for 19^th place at the 2005 Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, held this week at the Bay Tree Gold Course. The Pioneers posted a first round score of 344 and is 14^th in the 21 team field.

Amanda Bowen posted an 84, shooting 42 on each side and is tied for 42^nd. Shannon Palenkas carded 87 and is tied for 64^th, while Mandy Hartsock and Becca Friddle each shot 93 and are tied for 81^st place. Casey Stansberry, playing as an individual, also tallied a score of 93.

West Florida posted a 311 and holds a four shot lead over second place Central Arkansas. Nova Southeastern, Newberry and Pfeiffer are in a three-way tie for third place at 316. Grand Valley State is sixth with 318, followed by Catawba (321), Drury (330), Lenoir-Rhyne (337), Ashland (338), Wingate (340), Queens (340), Anderson (340), Tusculum, Armstrong Atlantic (346), Limestone (348), Belmont Abbey (351), Lincoln Memorial (351), St. Andrews (364), Mount Olive (377) and Mars Hill (400).

Catawba's Paige Haverty posted a two-under par 70 and leads by two shots over Anne-Sophie Friis of Nova Southeastern.

The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday at the par 72, 5,807-yard layout.
