TUSCULUM, PALENKAS FINISH EIGHTH AT RENDLEMAN INVITATIONAL

SALISBURY, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team fired a final round 333 to shoot a two-day 672 and finish eighth at the 2006 Patsy Rendleman Invitational, held this week at the Country Club of Salisbury.

Shannon Palenkas tied for eighth place with 78-81=159. Becca Friddle posted a 166 to tie for 24^th, while Amanda Bowen tied for 32^nd with 170. Mary Ann Vizcarrondo placed 47^th with 178, while Susanne Sisco shot 189 to finish 52^nd.

Tournament host Catawba won the team title, but had to hold off a second-day charge by local rival Pfeiffer. The Catawba Indians posted 627 to beat Pfeiffer by one shot (628). Newberry finished third with 631, followed by Wingate (663), Belmont Abbey (667), Lenoir-Rhyne (667), Anderson (671), Tusculum, Queens (677) and UNC Pembroke (773).

Tusculum returns to action Feb. 3-4, 2007 as the Pioneers host the Tusculum/Kiawah Island Invitational at Kiawah Island, S.C.
