TUSCULUM, CARSON-NEWMAN BASKETBALL GAMES AVAILABLE ON INTERNET STREAMING

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Saturday’s men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader between Tusculum College and Carson-Newman College will be available to watch via broadband Internet streaming. The game can be accessed on the Tusculum athletic web site or at http://www.cstv.com/ncaa/divii/.

The women’s game tips off at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m. from Carson-Newman’s Holt Fieldhouse.

The Tusculum women are off to a 20-3 record for its best start to a season in school history.  The Pioneers have won their last five games and 17 of their last 18.  TC sits atop first place in the South Atlantic Conference (10-1 SAC record) thanks to Wednesday’s night’s 92-79 win over Wingate University.  Tusculum’s Stephany Neptune recorded 12 points and a school record 23 rebounds in the win.

The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles (12-10, 6-4 SAC) are in third place in the league.  C-N has won four of its last six outings, including Wednesday’s 72-67 road victory at Lenoir-Rhyne College.

In last month’s meeting in Greeneville, the Pioneers posted a 79-74 win over their in-state opponent.  Tusculum jumped out to a 17-point halftime lead, but had to hold off a furious C-N rally to hold on for the victory.

In the men’s game, it will be the 123rd recorded meeting between Tusculum and Carson-Newman.  The Eagles have dominated the all-time series (85-37), but Tusculum has been victorious in eight of the last 11 encounters, including the last five in Jefferson City.

Tusculum (9-14, 3-8 SAC) has lost six of their last seven including Wednesday’s 64-53 home loss to Wingate.  Carson-Newman (16-5, 7-3 SAC) battled 20th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne down to the wire on Wednesday, only to fall 97-93 to the SAC leading Bears.
