KELLY HARRISON
HIRED AS TUSCULUM ASSISTANT SID
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Kelly Harrison has been hired as
Assistant Sports Information Director at Tusculum
College, announced Dom Donnelly, TC Director of Sports Information.
Harrison replaces Matt Horne, who resigned his
position in July to become Assistant SID at Georgia Southern University.
A native of Greeneville and a
graduate of South Greene
High School, Harrison
returns to her hometown after working four years in Orlando,
Fla., most recently with the NCAA Division
II Sunshine State Conference. In her new
position at TC, Harrison will serve as the primary contact
for men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, and softball. She will also assist with media relations for
the college's 14 intercollegiate sports.
"I'm excited to have the
opportunity to return home and assume this position working in a field that
I've greatly enjoyed for the past four years," Harrison
said. "Tusculum
takes pride in its athletics department, and the facilities that have been
built in the short time I've lived in Florida
are absolutely amazing. I look forward
to settling onto the campus and working with the coaches and
administrators."
During her three-year
tenure as Sunshine State Conference Information Coordinator, Harrison's
duties included media relations for the league's 14 intercollegiate sports, web
site maintenance, statistics, and NCAA compliance. Prior to assuming her position at the SSC,
she served as an assistant in the sports information department at Rollins
College, an SSC member institution.
"I'm looking
forward to the opportunity to work with Kelly," said Donnelly. "She has outstanding credentials working
at the Sunshine State Conference, Rollins and Tennessee. Kelly will be a wonderful addition to our
athletic staff at Tusculum."
Harrison
graduated from the University of Tennessee
in May 2001 with a BS in Communications and a sport management minor. As a senior at UT, she worked in the men's
sports information department, assisting with game-day duties for football and
men's basketball, as well as performing general office duties on a daily basis.
Tusculum
College is affiliated with the
Presbyterian Church, USA
and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference, which is
comprised of eight colleges and universities in Tennessee,
North Carolina, and South
Carolina.
