PIONEER
GOLFERS TO HOST TUSCULUM FALL CLASSIC
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men and women's
golf team will host the 2006 Tusculum Fall Classic, this Monday and Tuesday at
Link Hills Country Club.
The
36-hole inaugural event will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday with the 18-hole first round. The women's teams will open play on the front
nine holes, while the men's tournament will begin on the back nine.
The men and women's tournaments
will award team champion and runner-up awards, as well as medalist and all-tournament
(top 5) honors. The Tusculum Fall
Classic will also award a special trophy to the college or university that has
the lowest combined men and women's aggregate score.
The women's tournament will
consist of nine teams representing the host Pioneers, UNC Pembroke, Presbyterian College, St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Lenoir-Rhyne College, Wingate University, Mars Hill College, Lincoln Memorial University and Catawba College.
The men's field will also have nine teams involved including Tusculum, Brevard College, University of Virginia's College at Wise, St. Andrews, Lenoir-Rhyne,
Wingate, Mars Hill, Lincoln Memorial and Walters State College.
Tuesday's final round will begin
with men's tee times starting at 8 a.m.
The women will tee off beginning at 10:24 a.m.
The Tusculum men's team won the Anderson University
Invitational earlier this month, while the Pioneer women posted a strong second
place showing at the same event.
