TUSCULUM MEN'S SOCCER GETS SIX MORE COMMITMENTS

                                      

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Six student-athletes have committed to attend Tusculum College and play soccer for the Pioneers announced TC men's coach Brett Teach.  Joining the Pioneers this coming fall are Zachary Tyler Cundiff, Lucas Paulini, Sven Meyer, Oscar Ignacio Villagran, Brian Riesenberg and Tyler Clem.

 

                Cundiff, a midfielder from Vinton, Va., garnered All-State Second Team honors at William Byrd High School.  He was also earned First Team All-District and All-Region accolades.

                "Zac is a dynamic midfielder who will bring intensity and commitment to every training session," said Teach.  "He was selected as an All-State player in one of the toughest States in the East and we are excited to add Zac to our program"

 

                Paulini will strengthen the Pioneers at the midfielder position after starring at The Goethe School in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  He was rated Best Player Junior category five times (2002-06).

                "Lucas is very skillful and will be a creative force in our midfield," added Teach.  "He played for River Plate, one of the top clubs in Argentina and had an opportunity to be trained by some of the best youth coaches in the world."

 

                Villagran rounds out the midfielder trio, coming to Tusculum from Guatemala City, Guatemala.  Villagran is transferring to Tusculum from Feather River Community College where he earned First Team All-Bay Valley Conference honors while leading the Golden Eagles to a 17-4-1 record and a league championship.

                "Oscar is a defensive midfielder who played and captained one of the top junior colleges in California.  He developed a tremendous work-rate playing for JUCO head coach Vincent Gill.  Oscar is expected to contribute immediately."

 

                Clem, a striker from Murfreesboro, Tenn., will graduate this spring from Blackman High School.  Clem also brings some valuable club soccer experience, playing for TUFC.

                "Tyler is a quick and neat striker who is very comfortable with the ball at his feet.  He has the ability to take on defenders and create scoring opportunities."

 

                Meyer, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, was a prep teammate for Paulini at The Goethe School.  Meyer logged club experience with Velez Sarsfield and River Plate.

                "Sven is quick and a tremendous defender.  He played at a very high level in Argentina and has been well coached."

 

                Riesenberg, a goalkeeper from Newport, Ky., played his prep soccer at Newport Central Catholic High School where he was named to the All-State team and was his squad's most valuable player.  Riesenberg, who also played for the Northern Kentucky United Club Team, was and All-State Academic selection.

                "Brian is a quality keeper who should battle immediately for playing time.  He's big and athletic, and has a great deal of potential.  He's also an excellent student and will be a great addition to our program."

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
