WILLIAMS NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-SAC MEN'S SOCCER TEAM

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College midfielder Gareth Williams has been named to the 2007 Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Second Team announced league officials Wednesday.

Williams, a Wexham, England junior will be hitting the soccer pitch for the first time since 2004. The 5-8, 170-pounder finished fourth on the team in scoring in 2004 as he totaled 18 points on seven goals and four assists. Two of those scoring tallies were match winners, both coming in the Food Lion SAC Tournament. He accounted for the only offense in Tusculum's 1-0 win over Catawba College in the SAC Tournament semifinal. His second match-winner came the following day in the final as TC rallied from a three-goal deficit in a 4-3 win over top-seeded Carson-Newman College. Williams notched the match-winner with five seconds remaining in regulation. For his efforts, he was named to the SAC All-Tournament team.

The Preseason All-SAC Team is selected by a vote of the league's eight sports information directors.

Tusculum will open the 2007 season on Aug. 24 when the Pioneers host Lewis University for a 7 p.m. contest at Pioneer Field.
