TUSCULUM MEN'S SOCCER BEATS BATTLERS 3-1
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Bruno Conceicão
recorded a goal and an assist as the Tusculum
College men's soccer team posted a 3-1
win over visiting Alderson-Broaddus
College Sunday afternoon
at Pioneer Field.
The Pioneers (1-3) put a notch
in the victory column for the first time this season, while also giving head
coach Brett Teach his first Tusculum win since taking
over the program last December.
Tusculum scored the first three goals of the
match including two in the opening half.
TC got on the board in the 18th minute when Conceicão blasted a shot from 10-yards off of A-B keeper Neil Wright-Elliot (Winsdor, UK). The ball ricocheted off the keeper to the
foot of Tony Prisco
(Woodbridge, Va.), who converted the rebound into the
first goal of the match.
Conceicão
(Aruba) made it a 2-0 advantage when he took a pass from junior Gareth Williams (Wrexham,
Wales) in the box and laced a shot past Elliott from five yards away at the
37:40 mark.
Tusculum
converted its final goal of the day when Matthew
Ross (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) found the back of the net for the second time this season, heading in a
pass from Williams for a 3-0 TC lead.
The Battlers (1-2-1) scored late
in the match as Tyler Bradford (came
off the bench and scored off a rebound in the 85th minute. The goal was assisted by Eric Belcher (Edgewood,
Md.).
Tusculum
keeper Lance Moore (Morristown, Tenn.)
recorded his first win in goal as he posted a pair of saves in his 90 minutes
of action. Elliott played in 67 minutes
for A-B as he accounted for five saves in the loss.
Tusculum begins a five-match road trip at
Salem International next Saturday at 4 p.m.
