NO. 2 TUSCULUM EDGES BLUE HOSE 2-1 IN DOUBLE OT

 

CLINTON, S.C.--- ­Malick Jobe (Stockholm, Sweden) knocked in a goal in the 107th minute to lift No. 2-ranked Tusculum College to a 2-1 double overtime victory over Presbyterian College in South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer action Wednesday night at Martin Stadium. (Box Score)

 

With the victory, the Pioneers move to 5-0-0 on the season, while the Blue Hose fall to 3-2-1.

 

PC jumped out front early in the 13th minute when Bryan Padgett (Greenville, SC) took a pass from Brandon Tucker (Englewood, Colo.) and knocked it past Tusculum goalkeeper J.P. Swaminathan (Brampton, Ontario) for the early 1-0 lead.

 

The Pioneers came back to tie it up in the 38th minute when Gerald Watt (Bramton, Ontario) put a free kick past Blue Hose goalkeeper Mark Owens (Charleston, SC).

 

PC had two chances to win the game in the first overtime, but Tucker shot high on one shot and Swaminathan came through with a big save on another to keep the game alive.

 

PC will return to action Saturday night as they host Carson-Newman College in a 6 pm contest. Tusculum will also be back in action Saturday as they travel to UNC-Pembroke for a 7 pm match.
