UNC PEMBROKE UPSETS NO. 2 TUSCULUM 1-0 IN MEN'S SOCCER
PEMBROKE, N.C. – The UNC Pembroke men’s soccer
team used a Christian Staackmann goal to upset the second ranked Tusculum Pioneers
1-0 in men’s soccer action Saturday night at the Belk Athletic Complex.
With the win, the Braves improve their record to 5-2-1, while Tusculum (5-1-0) suffers its first loss of the year. (Box

took control early when Staackmann’s netted his
goal 3:59 into the match. Staackmann put the
ball into the back of the net thanks to a crossing assist off the foot of
Mustapha El M’Hassani. The Braves out shot Tusculum 10-8, however, both teams
could only manage a combined four shots on goal.
Tusculum will be in action once again
on Wednesday when it hosts Clayton State University for a 4
p.m.
match at Pioneer Field.
