NO. 15 TUSCULUM
DOWNS WEST VIRGINIA
WESLEYAN 3-0
BUCKHANNON, W. Va. --- The Tusculum College
men’s soccer team overcame messy field conditions to post a 3-0 Appalachian
Region victory at West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday. The match was delayed for approximately 20 minutes
due to stormy weather, and when conditions improved enough to play, the teams
battled on a very wet, muddy field. With
the win, TC improves to 10-4-1. Wesleyan
is 5-9-2 on the season. (Box Score)
The
Pioneers’ first goal came in the eighth minute when Benyam
Kefleyessus (Minneapolis, Minn.)
crossed a pass to center field, where it was headed in by Tony Prisco (Woodbridge,
Va.). The second goal also came in the first half
of action when Matt Ross (Brampton, Ontario,
Canada) found
a shot that ricocheted off the post and fired it into the net.
The
final goal of the match came in just after intermission, as Dave
Bailey (Bristol, England) scored his 13th
goal of the season off a corner kick.
TC
took 10 shots in the contest, while Wesleyan fired nine. J.P. Swaminathan (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) patrolled the nets for most
of the night for the Pioneers, recording five saves. WVWC’s Eric
Silbaugh stopped four balls for the Bobcats.
Tusculum
continues its tour of West Virginia
with a match against Davis & Elkins on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
