TUSCULUM MEN'S SOCCER CLAIMS SHARE OF SAC TITLE
GREENEVILLE,
Tenn.
--- The Tusculum College men's soccer team claimed a share
of the 2007 South Atlantic Conference Championship announced College
officials. The Pioneers tied for the regular season title with Lincoln Memorial
University, who dropped its final SAC
match against Wingate
University Saturday
night, 3-0.
Tusculum head coach Brett
Teach, who is in his first season in Greeneville, guides the Pioneers to
their second SAC Championship and their first since 2002. LMU wins its
first South Atlantic Conference championship in its inaugural year of eligibility
in the league.
Tusculum finished the
regular season with a 9-7-2 overall record and 5-1-1 in league play to earn 16
points. The Pioneers are ranked No. 17 in NCAA Division II and third in
the Appalachian Region.
Tusculum will host a
quarterfinal round match of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament
on Tuesday at Pioneer Field. Official seeding and match times of the
tournament will be announced by the league office later this weekend.
Quarterfinal winners will advance to next weekend's semifinal and final, which
will be held in Rock Hill, S.C.
