ROOKIES SHINE
IN TUSCULUM 1-0 WIN
OVER WEST GEORGIA
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Freshman Elisha Robertson's first collegiate
goal was the only offense of the afternoon as No. 8 Tusculum College defeated
visiting West Georgia 1-0 Saturday afternoon
at Pioneer Field in the TC Women's Soccer Classic.
Rookie keeper Tori Hadjopoulos (Greeneville, Tenn.)
recorded a shutout for the Pioneers (2-0) in her collegiate debut.
Following a scoreless first
half, Tusculum bided its time until Robertson (Sarasota, Fla.)
bended a 25-yard shot from the right side to give the Pioneers the lead in the
62nd minute, an advantage that would hold for the rest of the match.
Tusculum out-shot the Wolves (0-1) by a 14-8
margin, but none of the UWG shots were on goal.
West Georgia keeper Patricia
Logsdon (Marietta, Ga.) went the distance as she recorded eight
saves in the loss.
West Georgia will face Mars Hill
College (0-1) on Sunday
at Pioneer Field beginning at 1 p.m. Tusculum will host Bethel College
(1-0) at 3 p.m. to close out the Classic.
