TUSCULUM WOMEN BLANK BREVARD 6-0, TANNER SCORES HAT-TRICK
BREVARD,
N.C.
--- Danielle Tanner recorded a
hat-trick as the No. 7 Tusculum College women's soccer team blanked host Brevard College 6-0 Saturday afternoon in a
non-conference match.
Tanner finished
with three goals and an assist as the Pioneers improved to 7-3 on the season.
The Pioneers
struck early with a goal by Tanner, putting the shot past BC keeper Sydney Douglas with only 1:28 into the
match. Tusculum
then added another goal in the 32nd minute with a corner kick by Nicole Ferris that found a wide open Lisa Adriano for the second score of
the match.
Tusculum started the second half just like the first
as they scored again 32 seconds into the period with a goal by Jere Whitbred.
Tanner added two
more goals in the second half, while Ally
Mathews also found the back of the net.
TC rookie Dagbjort Agnarsdottir
assisted on the final two goals of match for the Pioneers.
TC out-shot the
Tornados by a 28-5 margin as Douglas finished
with nine saves. Tusculum's Tori Hadjopoulos
added three saves as she played in just the opening 45 minutes.
The Pioneers are
back at home this Wednesday night when they host arch-rival Carson-Newman College
at 7 p.m. The match has been declared
"Black-Out" Night as Tusculum fans are asked to wear black to
Wednesday's match against the Lady Eagles.
It will be a rematch of last season's NCAA Division II Southeast Region
final which Tusculum
defeated C-N 1-0 in a double-overtime thriller.
