TURNER SCORES
MATCH-WINNER, TUSCULUM BEATS NEWBERRY 1-0 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
GREENEVILLE, Tenn.
--- Courtney Turner headed in the
winning goal in the 109th minute, as the No. 23 Tusculum College
women's soccer team defeated Newberry
College 1-0, Saturday night
at Pioneer Field in South Atlantic Conference action.
Turner's goal, her second of the
season, came at the 108:40 mark as she headed in a crossing pass from Amber
Bradley for the match-winner.
Tusculum's Tori Hadjopoulos
recorded her fifth shutout of the season as she posted eight saves in the match,
including three in overtime. Newberry's Danielle Beckerle
was also stellar in goal as she made six saves on the evening. It was a clash between the two reigning SAC
Players of the Week. Beckerle
was this week's winner, while Hadjopoulos the week
before.
Newberry out-shot the Pioneers
by a 14-9 margin, including a 12-1 differential on corner kicks.
Tusculum returns to action Friday night when
they host the Queens University of Charlotte for a 5 p.m. match at Pioneer
Field. Newberry hosts Lander University
Wednesday at 2 p.m.
