LINVILLE
PACES NO. 4
GREENEVILLE, Tenn.
--- Amanda Linville recorded a
goal and an assist to lead the fourth-ranked Tusculum College women’s soccer
team to a 3-0 victory over Columbus State University Saturday night at Pioneer
Field.
The Cougars, champions of the Peach
Belt Conference, out-shot the Pioneers 16-11 as TC keeper Whitney Wardrop
recorded seven saves to post her 10th shutout of the season.
Linville got the Pioneers on the
board first in the 73rd minute for her fourth scoring tally of
the season. Sanchez came out of the
box to play a loose ball, but Linville converted the turnover and kicked the
ball to the far post at the 72:32 mark.
Six minutes later, Jere Whitbred took
a crossing pass from Linville at the 79:07 mark to
give the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage. Becky Carreiro
wrapped up the scoring for the Pioneers when she scored on a breakaway and
finished with a chip shot to the near post, past Sanchez for her team-leading
ninth goal of the year.
