TUSCULUM TO HOST PRESBYTERIAN ON TUESDAY IN

SAC WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINAL

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The pairings for this week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament have been announced and Tusculum College will be the No. 2 seed in the eight-team field.  Tusculum will host No. 7 seed Presbyterian College on Tuesday in a quarterfinal match at Pioneer Field.  The time of the match has yet to be determined.

The Pioneers (12-1-3) finished second the conference with a 4-1-2 league record and is currently ranked fourth in the nation (NCAA Division II).  The Blue Hose (7-9) finished in a three-way tie for fifth place in the league, but will be seeded seventh via tie-breakers.

This will mark the fifth time since 2000 that Tusculum and Presbyterian have met in the SAC Tournament, but it will be the first in the quarterfinals.  The Pioneers are 3-0-1 against the Blue Hose in the SAC Tournament.  In 2000, Tusculum won 3-0 in the finals at Pioneer Field.  It was a rematch in the finals in Greeneville the following year as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw before TC captured the title 4-2 on penalty kicks.  The two teams met again in the 2003 semifinals as Tusculum won 1-0 in overtime in Salisbury, N.C.  In 2004, Tusculum posted a 4-1 semifinal victory on the Blue Hose home pitch.

The winner of Tuesday's match will advance to the SAC Tournament semifinal against the winner between Catawba College and Newberry College, on Friday at 3 p.m. in Hickory, N.C. on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne College.  The SAC Tournament finals will be held on Sunday in Hickory beginning at 1 p.m.

The Pioneers are the defending champions of the tournament and will be in search of its fifth SAC Tournament title.  Presbyterian has won the event twice, the last time coming in 1996.
