TUSCULUM WOMEN'S SOCCER RALLIES TO 4-1 WIN OVER BEARS

--- The No. 25 Tusculum College women’s soccer team scored four unanswered
goals to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne College,
4-1, Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Lenoir-Rhyne (7-9-2, 2-5 SAC) scored its only goal of the day
early in the match (9:32) when junior forward Whitney Cline chipped a cross
from freshman forward Stevie Dellinger past the keeper for the
score.
After
L-R’s goal, the Pioneers took control of the match. Five minutes later
(14:57), Danielle Tanner shot the
ball from the right side of the field outside the 18-yard box and found the back
of the net to even the match at one.
Tanner
would assist on the next two Tusculum
goals. Tanner found Courtney Turner
in 34th minute and Amanda Tripp in
the 65th minute to put the match away at 3-1.
Tusculum (13-5, 4-3 SAC) scored its final goal of
the match with 21:10 remaining. Heather
Craft took a Nicole Ferris’ corner
kick and placed it in the back of the net for the final margin.
Tori
Hadjopoulos
picked up the win in goal for Tusculum
while senior Nicole Ley
suffered the loss for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Tusculum now awaits official word of its opponent
in the quarterfinal round of the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference
Tournament, to be held next week.
