WARDROP, TUSCULUM LEAD NATION IN
SAVE PERCENTAGE
INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College and Whitney Wardrop lead the nation in save percentage according to this
week's NCAA Division II women's soccer statistics announced College officials
Tuesday.
The Pioneers (14-2-3)
won last week's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and have advanced to this
Saturday's NCAA national quarterfinal match at the University of Tampa. Tusculum and
Tampa will kickoff its match at 7 p.m. at Pepin Stadium on
the Tampa, Fla. campus.
Wardrop,
a senior goalkeeper from Calgary,
Alberta, Canada,
has posted a .917 save percentage so far this year for the Pioneers. Wardrop has accounted for 99 saves this season,
to go along with a 0.46 goals against average which is sixth in the nation.
The 2006 All-South Atlantic Conference First Team honoree has also
recorded 12 shutouts this season, including back-to-back clean sheets at last
weekend's NCAA Regional.
Tusculum is also tops in the nation with its
.917 save percentage. TC is fifth in
shutout percentage (0.68) and eight in team goals against average (0.46).
The winner of the
Tusculum/Tampa match will advance to next week's NCAA Final FourŪ held at
Pensacola, Fla.
at the NCAA Division II Fall Sports Festival.
