TUSCULUM LISTED IN FINAL NCAA WOMEN'S SOCCER STATISTICS

 

                INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College goalkeeper Whitney Wardrop is listed fifth in national save percentage according to the final 2006 NCAA Division II women's soccer statistics, announced College officials Wednesday.

 

                Wardrop, a senior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, posted a.883 save percentage as she recorded 106 saves which are the fifth most in a TC single-season.  Wardrop was also listed 23rd with her 0.69 goals against average, the second lowest in school history.  Wardrop was named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region and All-South Atlantic Conference First Teams.

 

                Tusculum also ended the season listed in four team statistical categories.  TC finished fifth in team save percentage (.884), seventh in shutout percentage (0.65), 23rd in goals against average (0.68) and 24th in won-lost-tied percentage (.775).

 

Tusculum enjoyed one of its best seasons in school history, ending the year ranked eighth in NCAA II.  The Pioneers posted a 14-3-3 record, won the NCAA II Southeast Region Championship and advanced to the national quarterfinals for the first time in the 17-year history of the program.

 

                The Pioneers advanced to the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season and third time in the last four years.  Tusculum posted consecutive 1-0 decisions over Armstrong Atlantic State and Carson-Newman in the Southeast Region Tournament, before falling to Tampa in the NCAA Elite Eight.

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
