WILKISON BREAKS SCHOOL RBI RECORD,

TUSCULUM TAKES TWO MORE AT SNOW BIRD CLASSIC

 

                MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- The Tusculum College softball team recorded two more wins at the 2007 Snow Bird Classic, being held this week in Myrtle Beach.  The Pioneers (12-5) opened the day with a decisive 21-3 rout of Juniata College in five innings.  In the second game Megan DuBois pitched a two-hit shutout as Tusculum blanked Concordia University (Mich.) 9-0.

 

Game 1: Tusculum 21, Juniata 3 (5 innings)

 

                Chrissy Wilkison went 3-for-4 and broke a school single-game record with seven RBI as Tusculum defeated Juniata College 21-3 in five innings.  The Pioneers erupted for 12 runs in the third inning as Tusculum sent 17 batters to the plate.

 

                Jenica Fernandez went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a double, while Mackenzie Loy went 4-for-4 with four RBI.  Racheal Wilburn went 3-for-3 and scored four runs, while Anna Johnson also went 3-for-3 and scored four times along with a RBI.

 

                Holli Cadenhead improved to 4-2 on the season as she pitched four innings and struck out four.

 

Game 2: Tusculum 9, Concordia (Mich.) 0

 

                Mackenzie Loy went 2-for-3, including a three-run home run as the Pioneers blanked Concordia 9-0 in five innings.  Loy finished the game with four RBI to go along with a double.

 

                Loy’s big hit sparked a six-run third inning for the Pioneers.  Wilkison went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI and scored twice, while Johnson went 1-for-2 and scored three runs.

 

                DuBois (6-3) was solid as she went the distance in allowing just two hits and struck out 10 in the victory.

 

                Tusculum will face SUNY-Oneonta on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. to close out the Snow Bird Classic.
