BASILICATO, PIONEERS LISTED IN NCAA SOFTBALL STATISTICS

 

                INDIANAPOLIS --- Junior shortstop Ashley Basilicato is 25th in nation in slugging percentage according to this week’s NCAA Division II softball statistics announced College officials Thursday.

 

                Basilicato, a native of East Patchogue, N.Y., is boasting a .753 slugging percentage as she leads the Pioneers in doubles (10), home runs (6) and RBI (23).  On Mar. 24, she slugged a school single-game record three home runs at Virginia-Wise, which also tied a South Atlantic Conference record.  Basilicato also tied a TC game record with six runs batted in against the Lady Cavs.

 

                As a team, the Pioneers are also 47th in the country in doubles per game, averaging 1.48 per contest.

 

                Tusculum (11-20, 2-9 SAC) returns to action on Saturday when the Pioneers host No. 25 Lenoir-Rhyne College for a 1 p.m. league doubleheader at Red Edmonds Field.
