TUSCULUM SOFTBALL LISTED IN NCAA STATISTICS

 

                INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College softball team is ninth in the nation in double plays turned according to this week's NCAA Division II statistics announced College officials Tuesday.

 

                The Pioneers (28-23) have turned 24 double plays this season, which are a new school single-season record and are tied for the most in South Atlantic Conference history.

 

                Tusculum is also 24th in the country in doubles per game (1.78) and triples per game (0.35).  Sophomore Holli Cadenhead (Van Vleck, Texas) is 26th in the land averaging 0.11 triples per contest.  Junior Anna Johnson (Jonesborough, Tenn.) is 30th with her 0.10 average.

 

                Tusculum will be the No. 8 seed in this week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.  The double-elimination tournament is being held at Presbyterian College Softball Complex in Clinton, S.C.  The Pioneers will face No. 1 seed Lenoir-Rhyne College on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
