WES HOLLY, JR. RESIGNS TUSCULUM SOFTBALL COACHING POST

 

Wes Holly, Jr.                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- After two seasons at Tusculum College, softball coach Wes Holly, Jr. has announced he will be stepping down from his position at the end of the month announced Athletic Director Ed Hoffmeyer.

 

                Holly is leaving Tusculum to accept a softball position at a NCAA Division I institution.

                                                                                                                                           

                Holly posted a 41-56-2 record in his two Tusculum campaigns, including 18-32-2 last year.  In his inaugural season as head coach, Holly guided the Pioneers to a 23-24 mark.

                "We wish to thank Wes for his dedication and service to Tusculum College," said Hoffmeyer.  "We hate to see him leave, but wish him the best in this next stage of his career.  Wes has expressed a desire to coach at the Division I level and we're pleased that he will get this opportunity."

 

Prior to coming to TC, Holly spent six years at Milligan College, overseeing all aspects of the softball program, including pitching, catching and hitting fundamentals.  The Lady Buffs advanced to the Region XII championship.

 

                "I'm grateful to Tusculum and Mr. Hoffmeyer for giving me this opportunity," said Holly.  "I wish all the best to my players and Tusculum College for a bright and successful future." 

 

He is active in ASA Major Open and Class A Men's Fastpitch, playing for the past 15 years.

 

Holly's collegiate playing career began at Tusculum where he played baseball and basketball before transferring to Milligan. He holds a B.S. in Human Performance and Exercise Science.

 

Holly is married to the former Tracy Grindstaff of Mountain City, Tenn.

 

Hoffmeyer indicated that a search for a new softball coach will begin immediately.

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn. is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
