TUSCULUM BLANKS CARSON-NEWMAN 9-0 IN MEN’S TENNIS

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men’s tennis team recorded a 9-0 South Atlantic Conference win over visiting Carson-Newman College Thursday at the Nichols Tennis Complex.  The Pioneers (7-4, 3-0 SAC) post its third straight win, while Carson-Newman falls to 1-10 overall, 0-3 in SAC.

 

                Carlos Garcia and Sergio Espinosa outlasted Ricardo Gutierrez and Preston Sneed 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, while Roberto Robles and Jesse Puckerin edged Travis Bauguess and Brett Blocher 8-4 at the No. 2 flight.

 

                Tusculum also got singles wins from Robles, Puckerin, Espinosa, Garcia, Pedro Galavis and Michael Hallford.

 

                The Pioneers will face cross-mountain rival Mars Hill College on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. match in North Carolina, while the Eagles entertain the University of North Alabama tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in Jefferson City.
