VIRGINIA INTERMONT DOWNS NO. 37 TUSCULUM 6-3

GREENEVILLE, Tenn.  Virginia Intermont defeated the No. 37 Tusculum men’s tennis team 6-3 on Tuesday at the Nichols Tennis Complex. 

 

With the loss, Tusculum drops to 11-7 on the season.

 

Virginia Intermont won two of the three doubles matches and four of six singles contests.

 

The Pioneer duo of Antonio Oliver and Leo Guaycurus picked up TC’s doubles win at the No. 2 position, knocking off Jon Jonsson and Adam Cornett 9-8 (7-2).

 

In singles, Carlos Garcia downed Jon Jonsson 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 slot, and Guaycurus claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Adam Cornett at No. 6.

 

Tusculum hosts its third match in as many days on Wednesday when North Greenville visits the Nichols Tennis Complex.  Action will begin at 4 p.m.
