TUSCULUM MEN'S TENNIS BEATS CRUSADERS 7-2

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 37 Tusculum College men's tennis teams swept doubles play en route to defeating North Greenville University 7-2 Wednesday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.  The Pioneers end a three-match losing streak as they improve to 12-7 on the year.

 

                The No. 1 doubles pair of Carlos Garcia and Sergio Espinosa outlasted the NGU duo of Tomas Kirstukas and Gintas Daniusevicious 8-6 in pro sets.  TC's Antonio Oliver and Leo Guaycurus defeated Gabrial Altmayer and William Ho 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.

 

                In singles play, the Crusaders captured the top two flights as Kirstukas and Daniusevicious posted straight set wins and No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.

 

                At the third and fourth flights, Tusculum rallied from a set down in each to post victories.  At No. 3 singles, Garcia rallied to defeat Altmayer 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.  In the fourth flight, it was Julien Jacob with the late-match heroics as he won 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 over William Ho.

 

                Hunter Beal and Guaycurus posted straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

 

                Tusculum will be competing in next week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
