JACOB WINS ON SENIOR DAY, TUSCULUM TAMES COBRAS 8-1

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Senior Julien Jacob recorded a pair of points as the No. 39 Tusculum College men's tennis team defeated visiting Virginia Intermont College 8-1 Friday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

 

                The Pioneers (13-5) finish the regular season and will be the No. 2 seed at next week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.  The Pioneers will host seventh-seeded Wingate University Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. for a quarterfinal match.

 

                The Pioneers swept all three doubles points, including a 9-7 win by Jacob and No. 3 doubles partner Nicolas Bigler as the TC duo defeated Andrew Conley and Arslan Mermut.  Jacob also posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Edwin Ramirez at No. 6 singles. 

 

TC's Carlos Garcia remained undefeated on the year (17-0) as he knocked off Jon Jonsson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

 

                The Cobras (5-5) recorded its lone point at No. 1 singles as Milan Kisicky defeated Sergio Espinosa 6-2, 6-4.
