NO. 28 LADY PACERS NAB CLOSE 5-4 WIN OVER NO. 29 TUSCULUM

AIKEN, S.C. --- No. 28 USC Aiken freshman Marine Cannic won in three sets over No. 29 Tusculum’s (3-3) Jenn Sparks at No. 6 singles to give the Lady Pacers a 5-4 victory, Sunday afternoon. Going into the last match, the score was tied up 4-4, and Cannic defeated Sparks 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, allowing the Lady Pacers to remain undefeated in non-conference play. The win is the third-straight for USC Aiken as the Pioneers suffer their third-straight road loss.

The Lady Pacers started strong with two doubles wins, including the only shut out of the day by the No. 2 pair of Nicole Copp and Otavia Bastos, who defeated Bronwyn Hartley and Amanda Pike 8-0.

Tusculum came out strong in singles, as Claudia Bolivar, Danae Valderrama and Maria Nevarez each accounted in straight set wins. The Lady Pacers came through late in the match, winning the last three singles flights and grabbing the 5-4 victory.
