CLAUDIA BOLIVAR NAMED SAC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Claudia Bolivar           ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Claudia Bolivar of Tusculum College has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday.  This marks the third time she has earned this honor in her career.

Bolivar, a 5-6 senior from Armenia, Colombia, went 2-0 in both singles and double play to lead the Pioneers to a pair of conference victories last week.

Bolivar recorded a straight set win at No. 1 singles over Carson-Newman's Erika Bellettini (6-4, 6-3), the 2005 SAC Player of the Year.  The win sparked an 8-1 victory for Tusculum in its league opener.  Bolivar, and No. 1 doubles teammate Maria Nevarez, opened play in the C-N match with an 8-3 pro set win over Bellettini and Tessa Caprio.

In the Pioneers' 9-0 home win over Wingate, Bolivar defeated Alexis McDaniel 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 flight.  She preceded that with an 8-2 doubles win with Nevarez.

The SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's eight sports information directors.
