TUSCULUM WOMEN DEFEAT ANDERSON 5-1

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women’s tennis team recorded its third straight win as the Pioneers defeated Anderson University 5-1 Thursday at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

 

                Tusculum improves to 11-3 overall, while the Trojans fall to 4-9 on the year.

 

                The Pioneers captured two of the three doubles points including an 8-0 decision by Amanda Pike and Jennifer Sparks at No. 3 doubles over Jonesborough, Tenn. sisters Laura and Lisa Gorman.

 

                Tusculum finished off the match with victories at the top three singles flights, including Sparks who recorded the clinching point with her 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 2 singles against Anne Redfern.

 

                Tusculum returns to action on Saturday when the Pioneers host Newberry College for a South Atlantic Conference match beginning at 11 a.m.  Anderson will entertain Coker College in a league tilt on Saturday at 4 p.m.
