NO. 39 TUSCULUM BLANKS VIRGINIA INTERMONT 9-0

          GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --   The No. 39 Tusculum women’s tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over Virginia Intermont on Tuesday at the Nichols Tennis Complex.  With the win, the Pioneers improve to 14-6 on the season.

 

Tusculum took all three doubles matches by identical scores of 8-0.

 

In singles action, Maria Nevarez and Bronwyn Hartley did not surrender a single game en route to 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 3 and 4 positions, respectively. 

Claudia Bolivar, who played in the No. 1 slot, and Danae Valderrama, who competed at the No. 2 position, surrendered just one game, as they won 6-1, 6-1.

 

With the outcome of the match decided, Amanda Pike (No. 5) and Jenn Sparks (No. 6) played pro sets in the final two contests.  Pike won 8-1, and Sparks claimed an 8-0 victory.


                Tusculum will play its fourth match in as many days on Wednesday, when it hosts North Greenville.  Action is set to begin at 4 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
