TUSCULUM WOMEN'S TENNIS EARNS NO. 2 SEED IN SAC TOURNAMENT

 

                ROCK HILL, S.C.  --- The Tusculum College women's tennis team will be the No. 2 seed at the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament, to be held next week.

 

                The Pioneers (15-6), ranked No. 39 in NCAA Division II, will host seventh-seeded Wingate University in a quarterfinal match on Wednesday beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Roger M. Nichols Tennis Complex.  The winner of that match will advance to Saturday's 9 a.m. semifinal against the winner of the No. 3 Catawba College/No. 6 Newberry College quarterfinal.  Saturday's semifinal match will be held on the campus of Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn.

 

                The SAC Tournament final will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Jefferson City.

 

                Tusculum defeated the Bulldogs 9-0 on Mar. 26 in this year's only meeting.  The Pioneers won the SAC Tournament in 2004.
