TUSCULUM WOMEN'S TENNIS NAMED ITA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

 

                SKILLMAN, N.J. --- The Tusculum College women's tennis squad is a recipient of the 2005-06 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II All-Academic Team Award announced College officials. 

 

The Pioneers also had three players that earned ITA Scholar Athlete distinction, which recognizes those student-athletes who earned a 3.5 grade point average during the 2005-06 academic year.  Earning ITA Scholar-Athlete honors were Jobria McCracken, Maria Nevarez and Amanda Pike.

 

                Tusculum, under the direction of head coach Tommy Arnett, was one of 37 Division II teams to be recognized and the only South Atlantic Conference member to be honored.

 

                The Pioneers posted a 17-7 overall record and advanced to the championship match of the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
