TUSCULUM WOMEN'S TENNIS SHUTS OUT JCSU 9-0

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's tennis blanked Johnson C. Smith University 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

 

                The Pioneers wrap up the fall portion of its schedule with a perfect 2-0 record.

 

                The No. 1 pairing of Danae Valderrama and Samantha Cantu defeated the JCSU pair of Jennifer Lee and April Lewis 8-4 in pro sets.  Bronwyn Hartley and Caroline Crowe won their No. 2 doubles match 8-2 against Amber Shoecraft and Gabrielle Muhammad.  Heidi Vonderlage and Jessi Smith were also victorious in their doubles match against Brittany Laws and Czarina Moore 8-2 in the third flight.

 

                Amanda Pike claimed a straight set win at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-0) over Muhammad, while Cantu also didn't lose a game in her No. 3 singles victory over Laws.

 

                Tusculum returns to action Feb. 23 when it hosts King College for a 2 p.m. contest at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
