CAMPBELL SETTER BRITTNEY OBLINGER TRANSFERS TO TUSCULUM

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Brittney Oblinger has transferred from Campbell University to attend Tusculum College and play volleyball for the Pioneers announced TC head coach Nathan Baker.

 

                Oblinger, a 5-9 setter from Belvidere, Ill. comes to the Greeneville, Tenn. campus after playing the last two seasons at NCAA Division I Campbell.  While at the Buies Creek, N.C. school, she played in 40 games, including 27 as a freshman.  In 2005, she finished fifth on the team averaging 0.22 service aces per game.  She also averaged 3.59 assists per game, which ranked third on the team.  Oblinger accounted for a career-best 21 assists in the Camels' 3-0 win over Barton.

 

                "Brittney is a quality player and an exceptional person," said Baker.  "She will make an immediate impact with our squad.  I had the chance to recruit during her prep career and I have always loved her drive and determination she shows on the court."

 

                She played her prep volleyball at Belvidere High School where she finished as the school's all-time leader in assists (1,765) and service aces (117).  Oblinger was a three-time All-Conference performer and finished her senior campaign with 498 assists, 63 kills, 42 aces and 95 digs.  She garnered All-State recognition at the AA-level and was selected as the Gatorade Player of the Week.

 

                The Pioneers posted a 23-10 overall record in 2006, including 9-5 in South Atlantic Conference play, its best league mark since joining the conference eight years ago.

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is a member of the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
