ETSU DEFEATS TUSCULUM VOLLEYBALL 3-1, ROWLES BREAKS DIGS RECORD

               JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- Freshman Des Dyck tied her season best with 18 kills, leading the ETSU volleyball team to a home opening win Tuesday night at Brooks Gym, defeating Tusculum in four games, 30-28, 30-27, 24-30, 30-21.

                                                                                    

                It was a record-break night for Tusculum senior Alexis Rowles as she became the school's all-time leader in digs.  Rowles recorded 18 on Tuesday, giving her 1,648 digs for her career, breaking the previous TC mark held by Johanna Ratliff (1998-2001).

 

                Tusculum's Vivian Lacy led all players with 20 kills and 21 digs, while teammates Holli Cadenhead and Katie Luebke added 18 and 10 kills, respectively.

 

Mariana Rezende tallied 27 assists on the night, while Brittney Oblinger finished with 24 helpers.

 

                The Pioneers (1-4) return to action this weekend as they participate in the Carson-Newman College Invitational in Jefferson City, Tenn.
