PIONEERS, LADY EAGLES GO 2-0 IN DAY ONE OF TUSCULUM CLASSIC

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College and Carson-Newman College each picked up a pair of wins in day one action of the 2007 Tusculum Fall Volleyball Classic, held this weekend at Pioneer Arena.

Tusculum evened its record at 6-6 as they posted 3-0 wins over Virginia Intermont College and Barton College (0-4). Carson-Newman (11-0) remained undefeated on the season with its three-game sweeps of Kentucky State University (5-5) and West Liberty State College (1-10).

Virginia Intermont (2-7) bounced back after losing to Tusculum with its 3-1 victory over West Liberty. The Kentucky State/Barton match, originally scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, was being played later this evening.

The six-team, two-day event will conclude on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at Pioneer Arena.
