TUSCULUM BEATS CARSON-NEWMAN 3-1 IN SAC VOLLEYBALL

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Vivian Lacy recorded 20 kills and seven blocks to lead the Tusculum College volleyball team to a 3-1 South Atlantic Conference win over Carson-Newman College Tuesday night at Pioneer Arena.  The Pioneers (10-7, 2-1 SAC) won the match by scores of 30-27, 23-30, 30-20, 30-21.

 

                Joining Lacy with double-figure kills were Katie Luebke with 11 and Holli Cadenhead with 10.  Mariana Rezende led the TC attack with 44 assists, while Alexis Rowles finished with 23 digs.  Kelsey Hayden led all hitters with her .474 attack percentage with nine kills and zero hitting errors in 19 attempts.

 

                Carson-Newman (13-2, 0-2 SAC) was led on defense by the duo of Kelli Sorensen and Salem Stepp, posting 17 and 15 digs, respectively.  Allyson Corhn added 16 assists, while Stephanie Cutter tallied 15 helpers and eight digs in the loss.

 

                Tusculum returns to action this weekend when they travel to the Anderson University Invitational in South Carolina.  Carson-Newman will be at Newberry College this Saturday for a league tilt beginning at 2 p.m.
